Who Are We

My name is Kayla and I’m the person behind the camera. I make all of the breeding decisions and am the science minded person. My husband and my dad help tremendously with all of the manual labor involved in raising this many birds. I couldn’t do it without them. I’ve had a few health concerns recently, and they picked up the slack to keep this passion project of mine going.

Our Goals

Our goals at Mistic Acres are made with the animals in mind. First, we strive to provide high quality birds which will have long productive lives. Second, we make it a rule to give our breeding stock only the best care possible. We are very detailed in our record keeping and in our management practices. Finally, we want all of our customers to have a colorful egg basket at home.

At Mistic Acres we offer healthy birds to add to your flock and fertile hatching eggs if you’d like to incubate your own. It’s a great learning experience! We are NPIP Certified

Our History

The site for the breeding birds was purchased in 2003. When I was young, we raised laying hens for 4-H. Recently, we decided to get back into egg production chickens. I discovered egg and feather color genetics and I was hooked. I’ve always been very interested in the science behind genetics, and this has been the perfect way for me to learn more and experiment. Selecting the best animals to continue improving year after year is so exciting! I can’t wait to see what egg colors our chickens will be laying in the future.
